After Finally the winds laid down and the temperature rose enough to enjoy a day on the water. The seas were flat calm most of the day and with the air temp in the 70's we cruised at 40+mph. Dan and Tim got the day started with 2 gags at 28 inches. Tj and Brian braved the 55 degree water temp to shoot their limit of gags from 24-29 inches. All in all it was a great day on the water and we hit the dock just before 5 with double digit keeper grouper.

After 8 days of gusty winds and big seas the weather finally layed down enough so we could get back out fishing and diving. Despite the sloppy conditions and cooler water the bite was on. After catching our limit of gag grouper we released at least 10 more legal size fish along with a few big red snapper. Zane, Tim, Pete, and Scott had no problem finding nice size hogfish on every drop to add to the box. Back at the dock Capt. TJ got a chance to try out a much needed light made by Tim Heeley as with most trips I was filleting into the darkness. It worked to perfection. Thanks Tim.

Lloyd brought his family out for a full day of holiday fishing and they did not disappoint. Mary got things started with the first 2 keepers of the day and Julie showed the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, out-fishing dad most of the day. Jim won big fish honors with a 30+ inch gag and an enormous 20+ lb red, while Lynn waited patiently until the last spot to put 2 gags in the box. Final count: 19 Grouper, just one shy of limit and another banner day aboard the 2 Shea.

Another successful trip. We headed out a little after 11am with a crew from Mac's Dive Shop in Dunedin. Andrew and Randy were on their last vacation day before heading back to Wisconsin. Both had a great time as Randy did his 1st gulf dive and Andrew boated his personal biggest fish, a 30-inch gag grouper. Steve showed the hogfish are still around, Roget caught and released a 24-inch red snapper and Russell caught a 26-inch gag on his first trip on the 2 Shea. Finally, Matt proved that Captain TJ taught him well taking a 25 minute dive and spearing 2 nice gag and a 17-inch hog.

What a difference 12 hours makes. We were greeted out of Clearwater pass with no wind and flat calm seas, a far cry from the day before. The trip consisted of 2 recreational divers and 3 spear-fisher. Dives were enjoyed by all and there was enough fish brought in so that everyone went home with dinner. As an added, between dive, bonus Tim Heeley dropped a line and won a battle with a 29-inch gag grouper.

After a weeks worth of wind we were finally able to get back out. Thankfully, the fish cooperated because the water didn't. It was cold and sloppy but we were still able to put grouper, hogfish and 4 enormous mangrove snapper in the box. Sydney showed she is a chip of the block out-fishing her dad with a nice red grouper. Dad redeemed himself by putting on a tank and spearing some hogfish for dinner.

Al Cuervo hired Captain T.J. to run a fishing charter on his 38 cabo out of Westshore Yacht Club and we returned back to the dock with a limit of grouper. Actually, we had our limit by 9:30AM and spent the rest of a great day on the water, releasing 14 more keeper size grouper -- most over 28 inches. We were back at the dock in time for the FL/FLST football game.

Adventure Outfitters chartered the 2 shea for the first fish and dive combo trip of the grouper season and it was a success. We didn't leave the dock until after 10AM and were still able to put 13 nice grouper and 30n hogfish in the box. Everyone went home with enough fish to last the holiday season.
